Save our forests

You may have read articles like this today, about government proposals to sell off huge areas of woodland and forests in England, potentially to private companies. If you are reading my blog, chances are that you love woods and forests as much as I do, and really don’t like the thought of them being sold to the highest bidder to do God knows what with. A statement on Defra’s website attempts to offer assurances that conservation and wildlife will be unaffected and that there will be no mass felling of woodland. However, I find this attempt at reassurance somewhat hollow, coming as it does from people who think that selling off forests is a good idea.

If you care about our forests and woodlands and do not want to see them sold off, please join Save Britain’s Forests facebook page for information and details of campaigning. Please also sign this petition. Almost 30,000 people already have.
